As a practice we believe that architects should focus on how we better resource and manage our human environments.

The sustainability of the buildings we create, how they are created and how they will be used and reused is at the core of the practice’s discourse.

Historic properties feature heavily in our portfolio of works because their complexity suits the practice’s abilities and the practice’s interest in material culture and the narrative of why and what we build.

Practice Skills

The practice draws from the broad, cross-industry experience of Elliot Payne, the Director. We are suited to complex projects where problem solving and dialogue is key.

Our construction projects range from small extensions through to large scale industrial developments. The practice also undertakes strategic consultancy work focussed on the built environment. Previous consultancy projects include the private review of impact assessments for a major infrastructure scheme and the development of case studies for novel applications of capital funding in the provision of educational spaces.

For our construction projects we employ a range of design tools including building information modelling (BIM), hand drawing, physical modelling and prototyping. We focus on providing clean & clear information for our projects that is understandable and practical.

The core team of Elliot Payne Ltd is supported by a network of repeat collaborators including structural engineers, surveyors, craftsmen, architectural technicians, management consultants, writers and importantly builders.

Practice History & Future

The practice was established in the summer of 2013 and has grown steadily in size and reputation thereafter. We are proud that we maintain repeat clients and are often referred by recommendation.

We program professional development to ensure the practice shares information and experience, but also a common interest. This continued learning and exploration of possibilities adds value to our clients projects.
